Seasonal Shopping Tips + 12 Fall Wardrobe Staples

I am so excited for Fall coming up! It has always been my favorite season for many reasons. 1. I have a huge obsession with pumpkin flavored…well everything – Lattes, coffee creamer, muffins! 2. I love fall decorations because it makes any room feel more tranquil and cozy. There’s just something about the warm colors that change your mood. And 3. who doesn’t love when it gets to be sweater and jeans weather?

When a new season comes, I immediately go through my closet to see what I can donate and  finally get rid of from last year… aka those jeans I keep telling myself I will fit in again (sighh). Also, as you are doing this, take inventory of what you currently have so you don’t buy additional plaid shirts if you already have 2 that are in great condition. When I realize what I need that’s when I start making a list of those items and a budget that I want to stick to. A big lesson I’ve learned from shopping each season, is to only buy the basics! For example, purchase a few cardigans or tops that you can layer, or splurge on a pair of black booties that you can wear with different outfits. You will be surprised to find out how you can mix + match a few different pieces without having to spend a ton of money. If you are thinking of buying some new items for Fall, I rounded up 12 wardrobe staples that are a must have this season.

Fall Wardrobe Staples

1. A scarf: Scarves are a perfect addition to any outfit during the cooler months. I usually opt for a lighter weight scarf during fall and stick to the heavier ones for winter. This leopard print scarf is my favorite since It goes with basic colors and is a big trend right now.

2. A versatile dress: Everyone needs a dress in their closet that can be dressed up or dressed down as needed. This dress from Nordstrom comes in different colors and would look great with a pair of booties, mules, flats, etc. You could put a long cardigan over it for a more casual look, or a faux leather jacket over the top of it for a night out look.

3. Brimmed Hats: A hat adds effortless style to any outfit and it’s perfect for the days when you don’t want to wash your hair (am I right ladies?!). I usually buy my brimmed hats from Urban Outfitters since they are fairly priced and hold up well throughout the year. This brimmed hat has a pretty weave detailing with a faux leather accent strap and it’s only $34! It also comes in three different colors.

4. An Everday Tee: Whenever I find a t-shirt that I love, I make sure to buy them in multiple (neutral) colors. This t-shirt from Nordstrom is hands down one of my favorite purchases this year and it’s only $17. It’s soft, lightweight, and is not “clingy”. This shirt just drapes so well and looks great with a long cardigan and a pair of jeans. I bought it in a size small and it runs TTS.

5. Booties: They are a huge must have for fall. I usually splurge on a few neutral colored booties (black, brown, white) that I can mix and match with different outfits. The nice thing about booties is they go well with jeans, leggings, or dresses. When looking for booties, I make sure that they have a sturdy, blocked heel. It’s also important that they are a little tighter around your ankle than the average boots you own. If you are looking for an edgier look, I would go with these embossed leather booties. If you are wanting more of a basic color, then these blocked heel booties will be a great addition and they come in 4 neutral shades.

6. Moto Jacket: I get so excited for when I can finally pull out my moto jackets! Over the years I started to invest in different colors, just because it was so easy to throw on and dress up any look. It’s also one of those items that you can wear with a dress or jeans and a t-shirt. I’m in love with this faux leather moto jacket from Urban and it’s currently on sale for $49.99.

7. Oversized Cardigans: Cardigans are my favorite year round because I am always cold when I go out. I make sure to look for one that’s neutral in color so that it’s more versatile and fits in with the rest of my wardrobe. I usually opt for grey, black, or navy.

8. Faux Leather Leggings: Leggings are another staple that I usually wear year round, but during fall I love the Faux leather look. They are also a versatile piece that you can wear with a plain t-shirt and sneakers or with a coat and booties. I recently purchased a similar look to these faux leather leggings from Spanx. I love the textured moto detailing!

9. A Pair of Mules: I have recently fell in love with the mule trend. It adds a classic look to any outfit and can be worn with distressed jeans or even dress pants for work. I purchased these Steve Madden studded mules in the black and mustard colors from the Anniversary Sale.

10. A great pair of jeans: Finding a pair of your favorite jeans are important during fall and winter since it starts to get cooler. During this time, I try to make sure I have a few colors/styles to be able to dress them with different pieces throughout the year.  I opt for black jeans, a few distressed jeans, an olive colored pair, and a dark/light wash pair. I buy most of my jeans from American Eagle and Express.

11. Plaid tops: This pattern in any form is a must for fall. I prefer to buy plaid tops because they go well as a top or they are easy to put over a t-shirt for an edgier look. I tend to buy my plaid tops from Old Navy and AE because they stay in good condition and I can usually purchase them on sale. This Plaid Twill shirt from Old Navy comes in 4 different colors and is on sale right now for $28.

12. Statement Earrings: I try and find a reason to wear statement earrings all year long because they really do make a difference to any outfit. My go to shop for statement earrings is BaubleBar. These flower stud earrings are a perfect addition to any fall outfit and comes in multiple colors. If you are looking for hoops,  then these lightweight earrings transition easily from the office to a night out with the girls!

I hope you all found this post helpful! Happy Fall Shopping!!

Saturday Top 5 Favorites: My Beauty Haul

Happy Weekend! I feel like every time I sit down to do a post, it’s always pouring outside. I cannot wait until fall so 1.) it can stop raining and 2). so I can start putting up fall decorations! Who else loves everything pumpkin?! For my Saturday Favorites this week, I wanted to share with you all some of the beauty items I purchased recently. Some of these products I have been using for a while and others are a new obsession.

1). Sephora Contour Blush Palette: I have been getting a lot of questions on what blush I use. This palette has 6 different shades of matte and shimmer powder blushes. If you are unsure of what color you want, this is a great product to try out different shades. I am usually pale year-round, so if you have fair skin like me, these colors are perfect!

2. Redken One United Multi-Benefit Treatment Spray: This is a newer product I have been using on my hair for a few months now and it truly works wonders. This treatment offers 25 benefits…. yes 25! It protects against hair damage, detangles, conditions, adds shine, helps with humidity and much more! I highly recommend this product because it offers some type of benefit for every hair type.

3. Tarte Eyeshadow Palette: Tarte is my go-to brand for foundation, so I wanted to try their new eyeshadow palette. I love all of the colors in this limited edition palette and it goes on smoothly and is highly pigmented. This eyeshadow formula is also infused with coconut oil to provide moisture and conditioning benefits.

4. Origins – Checks and Balances Facewash: I have been using this face wash for years now. I decided to try another brand to take a little break and immediately had to go back. If you all have not tried the Origins skincare line then you’re missing out! They have a line for each skin type. My skin is extremely oily + dry, and this face wash helps combat both problems.

5. Jouer Powder Highlighter: I have tried numerous highlighters and was not able to find a product that was highly pigmented but looked natural. I found this brand and immediately was obsessed. It stays on for 10+ hours, blends in well, and provides a natural looking glow. I bought it in the Citrine – shimmering gold color.

Fitness Routine + What’s in my gym bag

What's in my workout bag

Happy Friday eve ya’ll! Before I continue on this post, I want you all to stop and think of 3 things that you have accomplished or are grateful for this week and comment them below! Why? Because we tend to only get stuck on the unfortunate situations that occurred and all the tasks that are still on our to do list. I know personally that I tend to focus on the things I am doing wrong or need to improve on vs acknowledging how much time, effort and passion I’ve put into the things I am succeeding in. So how about we put all that negative stuff aside and be happy we are here to live, love, and crush another week!

Some things I am extremely grateful for is 1. my husband for being so patient with me. I’ve realized that helping your significant other pursue a long time passion is not easy! He is sacrificing a lot of his own time to help me and is not complaining half as much as I would! 2. I am blessed for having another huge support system – my family. They are always there for me when I need them most. I can’t even count how many times I have called for advice, or just wanting someone to listen to me ugly cry my feelings out. The craziest thing is as I’m writing all of this…I can’t help but smile. So now it’s your turn to give it a try. I promise you won’t regret it!

Fitness Routine// Fitness and just overall health is a big focus of mine. I aim to workout at least 4 or 5 times a week and usually do it on my lunch break or right after work. I have shoulder issues and had them for 4 years now, which limits a lot of the workouts I can do. If you have limitations, don’t let it stop you! I used to let it get in my way and hardly worked out. Now I learned there are always different modifications you can make to exercises and you don’t have to do the 20-30 reps. Slow down, and just listen to your body. I do weight lifting 3 times a week + HIIT training (30 seconds on sprint, 30 seconds off the treadmill, high knees, jump roping, etc). The other 1-2 days I just do some type of HIIT cardio for 30-45 minutes or take a fun fitness class like kickboxing.

What’s in my gym bag// First off, how cute is that gym bag? It’s so accurate for me because I literally crave pizza everyday! Who doesn’t….?

  • BAN.DO Gym Bag – I was on the hunt for a gym bag that wasn’t so bulky, but still gave me enough room to store all of my essentials. This one was a perfect size! It has comfy straps to support your shoulders and I was pleasantly surprised with how great the quality is. It’s only $35 right now and they have different bags to choose from if you click on the link above.
  • Sonia Kashuk Cosmetic Bag – I bought my cosmetic bag from Target. This isn’t the same exact one in the picture, but I wanted to post a similar style since that one sold out. I love this bag because the size is perfect to store all your makeup and the cut out handles make it convenient to carry. Also, the outside material is easy to clean + It’s only $14.99!
  • Tangle Teezer Thick & Curly Detangling Brush – This hands down is the best brush I have ever owned. If you have thick/coarse hair like me, then this detangling hairbrush is a must have. It takes out all of your knots and doesn’t pull or tug too hard at your hair like normal brushes.  I bought mine from Sephora and it’s $12. They have the original Tangle Teezer brush too, incase you don’t have curly/thick hair and are just looking for a good detangling brush.
  • Urban Decay All Nighter Long-Lasting Setting Spray – This setting spray is a miracle. I usually have to keep my makeup on throughout the work day for 10+ hours and this spray does the trick. It doesn’t give you the sticky feeling and once it dries, you can’t even feel it. I purchased the smaller size (1 oz) to store in my bag and to have it for when I travel. The regular size (4 oz) is here.
  • Scunci No Damage Soft Hosiery Elastics – 3pk – I have posted these hair ties on here before only because I love them that much! It took me forever to find a hair tie that I could use while sleeping or working out that wouldn’t dent my hair. And since I have a lot of hair it was definitely hard to find. These elastic hair bands are designed with hosiery material for extra stretch and they are SO soft and comfortable. I bought these at Target and they were only $3.99.
  • Neutrogena Makeup Remover Wipes – These are my favorite cleansing wipes. They remove even the toughest water-proof makeup and they come in small travel size packs to easily fit in your purse.
  • Benefit Cosmetics Boi-ing Airbrush Concealer  – I have continued to buy this concealer now for the past year. I love how lightweight it feels on your skin. It does a great job covering up uneven texture and under-eye shadows. I use the “light” shade. This is from Sephora and is $20.
  • Batiste Dry Shampoo  – Recently started using this dry shampoo and I’m obsessed. It soaks up all the oil without leaving any type of white residue. Not to mention it’s very affordable ($6).
  • Adidas Sneakers – I purchased these from the Nordstrom Anniversary sale and it’s one of my favorites. They are comfortable and can be worn to workout or run errands. They are still on sale for $68.

Saturday Top 5 Favorites

Snapseed.jpg

Tee: Red Dress Boutique | Skirt: Red Dress Boutique | Sunnies: Quay Australia High Key Black Fade | Mules: Nordstrom

Happy weekend ya’ll! I just got back from a company event and now I am relaxing a little before a blogger meet up at the Rowdies Soccer Game. I am soo excited to meet/network with some amazing ladies and go to my first game! I have lived in St. Petersburg for a little over 4 years now and have never been to a game, despite I only live 5 minutes from the stadium (total fail on my part!)

Here are my top 5 Favorites from this week!

  • Amazon 12pc Bandanas – I thought I would share since bandanas are trending right now + this is a total STEAL. These are 100% Cotton with a Paisley Print. It comes in a 12pc set and gives you a bunch of different colors to choose from for only $12. Also, they are offered on Prime! My friend wore one of mine to the Rascal Flatts concert last weekend and it was perfect!

  •  Free People One Adella Bralette: This has been my obsession since it was delivered to my doorstep a few weeks ago. I bought one in black & white, and will definitely be ordering more colors. I throw them under outfits to lounge around the house or under any off the shoulder top. It’s a part of the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale right now and it’s $38. I bought them in a Medium and they are TTS.

  • Women’s Pull-On Shorts – Universal Thread: Since it’s 95+ degrees here in Florida during the summer, I was on the hunt for lightweight shorts. I found these pull-on light wash shorts from Target and they are so comfortable! These are perfect for an errand run or you can dress it up as well with wedges and a white cami. I bought them in a xsmall -they run big so I would go down one size.

  • Yasso Chocolate PB & YAY ice cream: Who else needs to have ice cream everyday?! I have been obsessed with the Yasso brand ice cream bars for a while now and found out that they started to sell pints! I just tried the pints for the first time this week and I am in love. It’s 150 calories per serving and if it’s been “one of those days” and you want to eat the whole pint then why not? It’s only 600 calories for the whole thing! I love their products as well because it’s made with real greek yogurt and no erythritol.

IMG_5510.jpg

  • SPANX Faux Leather Leggings: If you don’t already own a pair of faux leather leggings then I highly recommend buying these or heck even if you do still buy them! I purchased them from Nordstrom originally since they were a part of the anniversary sale, but they are backordered right now. I linked them above to the Spanx website and they are selling for the same price at $64.90. I bought a size Small and they fit TTS. These leggings are high waisted and super comfortable. I can’t wait until it starts to cool down so I can pair these with a plaid top and booties!

Happy Friyay! Bring out the cocktails and some cute outfits! I wanted to share with you all some of my current favorite shoes + accessories I have been wearing lately.

I buy a lot of my shoes from Target and Nordstrom. If I am looking to budget more, Target is definitely a good spot to find trendy, affordable shoes. I can’t complain with any of the Target purchases I have made yet! They are cheaper and still really good quality. If you are looking to splurge a little, Nordstrom is where it’s at. Right now they have their Anniversary Sale going on, so all of the shoes featured in this post are on sale!

  • Women’s Michaela Pumps – A New Day – These block heeled pumps are my favorite shoe purchase this year so far! They are so comfortable to walk around in and pairs well with just about any outfit. I am short, but still don’t love that high of a heel and these were perfect. I liked them so much that I bought them in black, taupe, and a light blue color. They come in wide sizes AND they are only $24.99 – huge steal!

Target pearl slide sandals2Target Pearl Heels.jpg

  • Multi Band Pearl Heeled Pumps –  I have always been obsessed with anything pearl, so when I saw these pumps, I had to have them! The best part is that this shoe can be dressed up or down. I wear this a lot with just a basic black top. It comes in either black or red. And also comes in this slide sandal version! $38 for the pumps and $23 for the slides.

Trace Studded Mule, Main, color, Black With Studmain image

  • Steve Madden Studded Mule – LOVE these mules! They are comfortable and easy to pair with a softly pointed toe and a low heel. I bought them in black and the mustard color. The Nordstrom sale is open to the public today so these might sell out fast. If you like this mule style, go here. They don’t have the studded detail but still so cute!

  • Target Black Heel Mules  – The ones pictured I got here at Nordstrom, but they are selling out fast, so thought I would give you another mule option! It’s a  different style, but from Target – affordable and still really cute! $30.

target sandal.JPG

  • Footbed Slide Sandals – Universal Thread – These sandals from Target are so so comfortable! They offer some height, while still being really easy to walk in. They have this wedge slide in black and brown, and it’s only $25!

I get my statement earrings from Baublebar. They always have the cutest styles and colors that can really make any outfit pop. I wear the earrings a lot with just basics (i.e. white/black tees and jeans), so it’s a cheap alternative to get a dressed up look without having to spend all the $$ on a new outfit. They are currently having a sale that is 20% off any order using CODE: SUMMER20 or 30% off orders of $50+ CODE: SUMMER30. This offer ends 7/22 at 11:59 pm EST. The styles I get are usually not very heavy, just because I don’t like to feel uncomfortable if I am wearing them all day. You can find the weight sizes of each earring on their website.

Here are some that are in my cart right now:

I have really been into the whole “coin” necklace trend. I bought this one recently from Etsy. It has your zodiac sign on it and is very well made. The other necklace featured in this post might be sold out, but I linked this one that is pretty similar!
